The Beale Rod-N-Gun Club offers two skeet fields, one trap range and a small arms range, which will accommodate all small-bore weapons.

This was the site of the Beale Air Force Base Ground-Air, Transmit-Receive area. The gun club is using the original GATR buildings. The control center for this site was located at Mill Valley Air Force Station located on top of Mt. Tamalpais, an unusual occurance as most GATR sites in this area were co-located with their control centers.

GATR sites were used to communicate with aircraft via UHF/VHF radio. Later updates allowed controllers to vector the interceptor aircraft to their targets.

  • I was discharged from active duty while stationed at Beale GATR site. It was not controlled by the 666 Radar Squadron at Mill Valley, but by the 859 Radar Squadron at Red Bluff.
