The original 1800's settlement of South Bend. Now exists as part of the unincorporated area of South Bend Township, Blue Earth County [Township 108 North, Range 27 West]. Much of the original township near the bend in the Minnesota river here was razed to construct Hwy 169/60. Originally it even included a hotel. Scattered remnants of the original town can be found along the riverbank.
