Herbert Clark Hoover was born 08/10/1874 in West Branch, Iowa, and served as the 31st President of the United States (1929-1933). He brought to the presidency a wide range of interests, information, and experience. He banked his presidential salary and gave it entirely to charity. From the day Hoover organized the Belgian Relief in 1914, until his death fifty years later, he never accepted for his private use any payment for public service. The Hoover Library & Museum enables visitors to experience for themselves the many sides of Iowa's only president. Very intereting man mainly outside of his presidency.

The permanent galleries begin with Hoover's boyhood in Iowa and continue on to the Waldorf Towers in New York where he spent the final years of his life.

The Quarton Gallery offers exciting temporary exhibits relating to American history.

In the Hoover Library people of all ages can learn about President Hoover's life and career. Using manuscripts, photographs and oral histories, one can learn the stories of early 20th Century American history.

The Hoover Museum sits on the grounds of the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site where visitors can tour:
- Mr. Hoover's birthplace cottage,
- a blacksmith shop
- a Quaker Meeting house, and
- the gravesite of Mr. and Mrs. Hoover.

  • They should let homeless camp out on the property due to Hovers dismal record in combating the great depression.
  • The depression wasn't his fault. He inherited it.
