dam

Built in 1910 for electric power generation. Currently owned by Blue Earth County. The structure has deteriorated greatly over the years as the water flows over the top of the dam instead of through it like the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. The US Army Corps of Engineers is doing a study to consider the feasibility of options for the future of the dam - fix the structure or tear it down.
