KNOM on 780 AM and 96.1 FM broadcasts to all of Western Alaska. KNOM was founded as the Alaska Radio Mission by the Roman Catholic Church and remains so to this day. As a non-commercial radio station, the station produces educational and inspirational spots in place of commercials. KNOM broadcasts music, news, locally-produced specialty programming, as well as the nightly rosary. KNOM has won numerous national awards and boasts one of the best news staff in all of Alaska. KNOM produces the most comprehensive coverage for the Iditarod. The station's tagline "Yours for Western Alaska" strikes a familiar chord to most every Nomite.
