Ugra Narashimar Temple at Singirikudi, Singirkudi,

This is one of the Nava (9) Narasimhar temples of Tamilnadu which are popular for Lord Narasimha worship. Also, this is one of the 3 temples along with Poovarasankuppam and Parikkal which are being worshipped on the same day by the bakthas. The Narasimhar is in Ugra posture killing the demon Hiranya Kasibu in His lap. There are separate shrines for Thayar and Andal and unusually, they both are facing the opposite direction to that of Lord.
Direction: Around 10 kms from Pondicherry en route Cuddalore. Cross Ariyankuppam, Sunnambar, and Arvind Eye Hospital. Immediately after Arvind Eye Hospital, you will encounter a 4 way crossing and there you take right and go further for about 3 kms to reach the temple.

Note: To confuse, there is another place called Singiri koil in the Vellore to Polur (Thiruvannamalai) route which also has a beautiful Lakshmi Narasimhar temple amidst a beautiful location on a small hillock.

  • This is not Singirikoil, this is Singiri kudi; Singiri Koil is in Vellore to Polur route which also has a famous Narasimha Swamy temple. Is this Poovarasan kuppam?
