  • Tunnel 18. Where the other seventeen tunnels are, don't ask me. Thats what the railroad calls it. Just under 1 1/4 miles in length, opened in 1916. Before the tunnel, all trains had to take the St. John's line along the bluffs and around North Portland to connect to the mainline north to Seattle or the Kenton line east to the Gorge.
