neighbourhood, interesting place
Nisqually Pines Community Club (The Pines) is a home owner's association located on the Yelm Prairie in Western Washington. The Pines is snuggled up to the Nisqually River with a view of Mt. Rainier, within easy driving distance of Olympia and Tacoma. The Yelm area is fast growing with grocery stores, discount stores, many boutique shop, restaurants, and schools.
A neighboring city of both Tacoma and Olympia, near the military bases of Fort Lewis and McChord, the Pines is home to many state employees and military personnel. In addition, the community boasts varied residents from senior citizens who lived here for many, many years and then retired and others who are stopping over on their way to somewhere else. Children are an integral part of the community.
The Pines is a limited access single family residential community consisting of 825 parcels ranging in size from ¼ acre to slightly less than ½ acre. Most of the parcels are occupied by either a mobile home or stick built house. About 2500 people call the Pines their home.
The community, founded as a recreational area in the late 60's, is now fully residential. The largest groomed park, located centrally for the community, boasts a swimming pool (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day), basketball hoops, and a clubhouse and the future site our playground.
A large natural park, exclusively for the use of the residents and guests, is located along the Nisqually River. Another smaller park with a gazebo is located at our small man made lake.
Residents of the Pines frequently have community fun activities. These activities may be a potluck, a Halloween party, picnics during the summer, and a Christmas party where the children have their picture taken with Santa. Food and money are donated throughout the holiday season for food baskets and gifts for some of our less fortunate residents.
The Pines maintains its own Class A water system, which consists of two water storage tanks, water lines, fire hydrants, pumps, well houses, and wells.
Along with the cost of water, the Pines assesses annual dues to pay for the upkeep of the community roads (8 miles), the parks, the clubhouse, the pool, the office, and employees. The dues may be paid annually or monthly. A portion of the dues goes into a long-range plan to pay for future projects or emergencies.
As with any homeowner's association, the Pines has rules and regulations that govern the use of property and activities within the Pines. All owners, their tenants, and guests are expected to be aware of and follow these rules. The property owner is the person held responsible for tenants and guests. The Pines is a great little residential community to live in and, because of its location, has access to many of the amenities of the larger cities in the state.
