Estate home designed c. 1913 in the Georgian Revival style by C. Grant LaFarge (of the firm of LaFarge & Morris) for John Pierpont Morgan, Jr {financier, industrialist}. Morgan served as partner of the J.P. Morgan & Co. investment banking firm, director of International Merchantile Marine Co., First Securities of New York, Aetna Insurance Co., United States Steel Co., and Pullman Co. He also served as vice president of the board of the Museum of Natural History.

After Morgan's tenure, the estate was used for a short while by the Soviet Ambassador to the United Nations prior to moving to "Killenworth" in Glen Cove. it then became a convent and was ultimately demolished in 1980. However, the dairyman's cottage, gardener's cottage, superintendent's house, and boathouse remain as private residences.
