This is the Governmentt Higher Secondary school. (In addition to this, now there is a Girls high school, KAMP meerania High school and National school, catering for higher secondary education at Kalakad.) In this Governmentt Higher Secondary school about 1800 students are studying from VI standard to XII standard /year.This is school is started in 1957. Most of the students are designed as doctors and engineers.

In 2007 XII standard Student Iyappan won the first prize in a State level drawing competition.

In 2009 five students from IX Standard won the First place in aDrama Competition in state level and participate the National competition at Hydrerabad.
In 2010 selvi A. Velammal got 1144 marks out of 1200 in Hr. Sec. Public Exam. She is the School topper and got Ist place among the Govt.Schools In Cheranmahadevi Educational District. Selvan K. Jeyaraj got 485 marks out of 500 in SSLC public Exam. He won the 3rd place in Cheranmahadevi Educational District and Ist place among the Govt.Schools In Cheranmahadevi Educational District.
