erosion, ice field, ice cap
River turned acidic due to melting permafrost dissolving embedded minerals and exposing embedded metals and other elements to oxygen. This is caused by global warming melting the ancient permafrost. The permafrost naturally contained all these metals and elements encased safely within for millennia. Now with the ice melting, these are being released into the rivers and streams turning the water toxic orange color and too acidic to sustain life.
