 office building, library

7-story office building completed in 1959. Designed by Sirof Rosenberg & Selversten, it is clad in aluminum panels and glass. The east half of the ground floor is clad in grey granite, along with the west end pier. Between these are a plate-glass window, a metal-framed glass door and another set of metal-framed glass double-doors, as well as a grey metal service door.

The upper floors are organized into three bays, with bands of windows at each floor grouped as tripartite windows in the outer bays and wide double-windows in the center bay. There are four metal vents at each floor, spaced across the aluminum spandrels. The building houses the Jewish Braille Institute (JBI) as well as its library. The institute, established in 1931, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides materials in Braille, on audio cassette and in large print to the blind, visually impaired and reading and physically disabled worldwide.
