 religious center  Add category

3-story religious center/commercial building completed in 1929. On the north facade the ground floor has been re-faced in stainless-steel, with a short return onto the north edge of the west elevation. The rest of the facades a white-painted stucco.

The main entrance has a glass door. To either side, mesh screening in the steel panels reveals a window behind, and this is all covered by a steel canopy. To the left is a metal service door. The upper floors on the north facade have two single-windows paired together on the left, and a single-window paired with a double-window on the right, all outlined in grey paint.

The long western facade has four vents along the ground floor, four square windows spaced out along the middle-left of the 2nd floor, and four much wider 3-pane windows across the 3rd floor; again the windows are outlined with grey paint. The rear, south-facing elevation has the top floor set back a little, with a metal door at the west end and four windows to the right. A metal fire escape descends straight south to the ground level.

Rissho Kosei-kai was founded in Japan in 1938 to combine traditional teaching with everyday application to help a modern and expanding world find peace and harmony.
