The name Banloc originates from joining two words: the name of a god called "Pan" (meaning owner) and "loc" (meaning place), thus meaning "the place of the owners". Later when the word "pan" becomes "ban" (by keeping its meaning), the castle from Panloc becomes Banloc castle.
The village is firstly mentioned on the 13th of May 1400 in a document called "Byallak" originating from Cenad. During the Ottoman rule of Banat, during 1552 - 1716 it becomes the summer residence of Timisoara's pasha. In 1717 when the Banat is conquered by the Habsburgic Empire, the village of Panloch is registered as belonging to the Ciacova district and it witholds 85 households. On the map of Count Mercy (map created between 1723 - 1725), the name Banlok is first mentioned. The domain of Banloc is attributed after a land exchange to the croatian noble Draskovici. In 1783 it is sold to count Lázár Karátsonyi from Beodra (known today as Novo Miloševo - Serbia) who, ten years later, on older foundations, builds the actual castle.
