Resita is the resident city of Caras-Severin County, located in the center of it, being crossed by the Bârzava River. The total area is 19,834 ha of which 1902 ha is built and has 6 belonging districts: Secu, Doman, Moniom, Cuptoare, Ţerova, Câlnic. Located at the foot of Mount Semenic, Resita is a starting point to known areas of interest: Semenic, Three Waters, Crivaia and Secu.
Resita is the oldest steel industry center of Romania and one of the most important industrial cities in southeastern Europe. Today's picture impresses the viewer by construction and civil engineering, landscape architecture recovery, as can be seen in photos.

Brief History
Historically speaking, the place is known since the fifteenth century, the name Recsicza and Reshycha. It is mentioned in 1673, 1690-1700, and the Census of 1717 is labeled with the name Retziza, with 62 houses. Since 1771, when they set up factories, Resita became the polarizing center of the entire area.
Initially, there were two villages close: Resita Română and Resita Montana. Plants were placed in Resita Montana, inhabited by Romanian coal miners (cărbunari). Later, in 1776, here were settled 70 German families originating from Styria, Carinthia and Upper Austria and later, in the period 1782-1787, German families of the Rhine region.
The development of the two parts of the city led to the formation of an industrial town, a factory town, with distinct social, economic and cultural particularities.
In 1771, the two Resita had 750 inhabitants. In 1871, in Resita lived 7600 people and in 1910, the town had 17,384 souls. The population increased rapidly after the second world war, especially on account of migration increase, reaching in 1971 68,860 inhabitants. In 1989, Resita had 110,260 inhabitants.

Resita has a road network totaling 120 km of urban roads, being crossed by national, county and municipal roads, as follows:
• DN 58 B NW direction to Timisoara (110 km);
• DN 58 to NE direction and the direction S Caransebes to Anina;
• DJ 581 in the direction V to Oravita;
• 582 DJ's direction to mount Semenic Văliug resorts and Three Waters (“Trei Ape”);
• DC 92 to resort Secu.
Railway Network consists of:
• South Resita Resita electrified lines north-Caransebes.
• North Resita Berzovia non-electrified line-read-Voiteni-Timisoara North.
Air transport is provided by the Timisoara airport (110 km from Resita) the largest international airport in western Romania and Caransebes airport (40 km from Resita) provides charter flights.
Water transport is provided by the Danube port of Moldova Veche, at 97 km from Resita.
Points of crossing state border
Throughout Caras-Severin territory there are two border crossing points:
- Border crossing point for traffic on the Danube River in the Port of Moldova Veche, at 97 km from Resita
- Road border crossing point to the Republic of Serbia at Naidãs - 69 km from Resita.
Exit to other European countries is carried out by neighboring counties:
-Timis County Road via Moravia and Cenad;
-Through the Nadlac-Arad county for road signs and point the Court to Traffic.
Renewable natural resources of the area are:
• hydro facilities on the upper part of the Bîrzava River on the first 50 km from its source by Gozna, Secu and Breazova lakes and Three Waters Lake on the Superior Timis River, which are the supply water of Resita;
• woody vegetation (forest) which goes in the eastern city almost to the periphery and including a variety of species, both softwood (pine black pine, duglas and others) and deciduous specific to the highway hills with beech (best wood in Europe) mixed with hornbeam, lime and oak.;
• forests around Resita host species of wildlife hunting interest, such as foxes, wild boar, wolf, deer, and other rafters and many species of birds, some of these forests being declared Nature Reserves type forest.
Location in a natural setting, the presence of well-known nearby tourist areas: Semenic and Caraş Keys are advantages for the future development of tourism. Semenic Tourist Area includes the following sub areas:
• Semenic Plateau (1400 m altitude) located at a distance of only 35 km from the city is favorable for winter sports, with beds in hotels and villas.
• Breazova - Crivaia sub-area includes two lakes: Breazova and Văliug and tourist bases from the banks of lakes.
• Three Waters sub-area includes waters and lake resort with the same names and places and Brebu Gărâna New, suitable for recreation, hiking and water sports.
• Secu sub-area is emerging around the lake and is the place for spending weekends for Reşiţa’s inhabitants.
