A moraine dedicated to the Haskovo people who died for the Liberation.
The idea for a memorial plaque dedicated to the fallen Haskovo people in the days of the Liberation originated in the Civic Club of Haskovo in the late 30s of the twentieth century. It was realized four decades later on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Bulgaria's liberation from Ottoman political rule. Then several memorial signs were placed. Especially important is the memorial plaque (moraine), dedicated to the 70 hanged Bulgarians from Haskovo in 1877. The memorable text reads: In 1877 in this area were hanged 70 Bulgarians, victims of the Liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman yoke. The names remain unwritten, but the memory of the Haskovo people killed in the summer of 1877, in the tragic days of Suleiman Pasha's attack on Stara Zagora, is preserved.
Seven gallows have been erected on this site and many Haskovo people hang on them. The bloodshed and atrocities continued until the beginning of 1878, when on the afternoon of January 7/19 the reconnaissance detachment under the command of Staff Captain Vilamov entered Haskovo.
