In 2012, in his hometown of Sliven, a memorial plaque to Colonel Prodan Tarakchiev was discovered, placed on the wall of the Hadzhi Dimitar Community Center.
Prodan Stoyanov Tarakchiev is a Bulgarian officer, among the first Bulgarian pilots and creators of the Bulgarian military aviation. Together with the pilot Radul Milkov, on October 16, 1912, over Edirne, they made the first combat reconnaissance flight in Europe.
