Add category
9-story office building completed in 1921. Designed by Springsteen & Goldhammer, it is clad in red brick above a 2-story base of white-painted stone. The central entrance has glass double-doors and a transom framed by fluted stone pillars. There is a wide glass-and-metal storefront on either side, each with a centered glass door. The ground floor is topped by a stone band with a row of vertical rectangles, and a panel in the center with four squares of floral ornament. Framing the base, the end piers and band across the top have a pattern of connected, thin bars with rounded ends, with spaced out roundels. The 2nd floor has six window bays with large panes below pairs of smaller, upper panes, all in brown metal framing. A simple cornice caps the base.
The upper floors have three bays of triple-windows with stone sills. Above the 3rd-floor lintels are thin, modillioned brick bands. The spandrels between the 7th & 8th floors each have a pair of small stone shields, and the piers at the top of the 8th floor have some simple stone ornament. The top floor is set off by a modillioned stone cornice, and has two double-windows in the center bay, and tripartite configurations in the outer bays. The roof line has a brick parapet with geometric stone capitals, projecting stone panels, and a scalloped stone band.
