Thought to be the primary residence of the royal family, the complex was located in the north corner of Amarna (ancient Akhetaten), across a thoroughfare from the rest of the North City area. The remains of parts of the perimeter walls and some of the adjoining buildings can still be seen, but much of the site is effaced by later agriculture.
