Holiday Inn Express Midtown West (New York City, New York)

120-foot, 11-story modernist hotel completed in 2012. Designed by Gene Kaufman, it is clad in reddish-brown brick above a 2-story black granite base, set far back from the street. Outdoor seating areas is a small plaza out front are surrounded by a low, red brick wall, and bisected by a low-sloped, brick-paved ramp in the middle, leading to the central main entrance, with black metal-and-glass sliding doors. They are covered by a glass canopy on black metal supports that extends out over the walkway.

The facade has a total of nine bays, with tripartite windows at the base, and double-windows on the upper floors. There are black metal spandrel panels between the lower two floors at each bay. The upper floors are organized into nine 3-story x 3-bay squares by horizontal and vertical bands of grey brick partially edged in white brick. There is a metal air-conditioning vent below each window.
