Rozhen Pyramids are located south of the village of Rozhen. They are part of the Melnik Pyramids Complex. Rozhen pyramids are hundreds of small and large rock mushrooms. It is believed that they are formed at the place of dried up lake. The bottom of the lake was sandy loam precipitated material. With every heavy rain, earth masses collapsed on the dried up bottom and gradually formed a thick cover of weakly cemented reddish conglomerates. These new sites were under the constant pressure of the passing of there rivers, which in order to make their way, carved the forms we know today. They were declared a natural landmark in 1960, together with Karlanovo and Melnik Pyramids.
