The fortified evangelical church from Buzd, Sibiu county, Brateiu commune, was built in the 14th century, on the site of a much older Romanesque basilica.

The church, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, is small, like the community that built it. It is a Gothic style building, with a single nave, choir and polygonal apse, dating from the early fifteenth century. The choir, the element with which the construction of a church began, is the oldest part of the building and dates from the 14th century. At the beginning of the 15th century, the hall was built.
In the first half of the 15th century, a fortified enclosure was built. The curtains were 6-7 m high (on the east side there are still walls about 4-5 m high) and were supported by buttresses, which are placed inside in the eastern sector due to the steep slope of the hill.
