Jin Chae-bong is raised by Jin Eo-sa, a single mom. She is Yang So-yu's first love that he met at the age of 16 on the way to take the state examination. She promises her future with Yang So-yu while listening to him reading his poems and exchanging poetry and prose with him through her nanny. After her father dies being branded as a traitor, she becomes a court lady and becomes a member of Yeoiungseo (a writing court lady group). She sheds tears when she sees Yang So-yu's poem on the fan thinking about the past, and she writes her own poem under his. A little later, the emperor finds out, but forgives her, feeling sorry for her. When Yang So-yu gets married to Princess Nanyang (Lee So-hwa), she follows them and becomes a concubine. Jin Chae-bong can be considered a character with a change in the social order status of the late Joseon Dynasty.
