Yeosu Industrial Complex started construction in 1967 and completed in October 1979 with Honam Oil Refinery the first. Construction of a private jetty was started in February 1967 and was completed in March 1969. In addition, there is a petrochemical complex of about 4,257 km2, Honam Petrochemical, a large-scale petrochemical plant.

GS Caltex has a daily production capacity of 775,000 BPSD and more than 50% of total output is exported
