5-story Renaissance-revival cooperative-apartment building completed in 1897 as the northernmost in a row of buildings all completed together and occupying the entire blockfront. While the six other buildings to the south remain a homogenous unit, this one was sold separated and renovated to a somewhat different appearance, mostly notable by its Roman brick facade being painted pale yellow, and the roof cornice being removed.
The original entrance on West 108th Street has been replaced by one on the east facade facing Central Park West. It has a black metal-framed glass door, narrow sidelight, and transom recessed in a surround of grey stone tiles, lowered to the sidewalk level. There are two single-windows to the left, and another further over to the right, as well as a single-window in the rounded northeast corner bay. The lower two floors have horizontal stone banding, and beveled stone surrounds, with thin cornices at the 2nd floor. At the south end the basement level has two windows, with an iron railing enclosing the areaway, and at the north end there is a basement storefront, occupied by Park West Cafe & Deli. It is also enclosed by an iron railing, with the areaway and storefront extending around onto the east end of the north facade. There is a metal staircase at a break in the railing leading down to the cafe, which is covered by a green canvas awning. On the upper floors, there is another single-window above the main entrance. There are dentiled sill courses below the 2nd, 3rd, & 5th floors, interrupted in some bays by air-conditioning vents that have been cut below the windows. The 3rd floor has quoined stone surrounds at the windows, topped by either rounded or triangular pediments. The 4th floor has splayed stone lintels, and the 5th floor has beveled stone surrounds with cornices like the 2nd floor, as well as paneling on the piers between bays. The painted parapet where the roof cornice has been removed from is capped by a stone coping.
The north facade on 108th Street has the original entrance bay transformed to a double-window, with the stoop in front removed. The enframement remains, however, with the window flanked by Corinthian columns set into a stone surround with three levels of intricate moldings, surmounted by a panel of foliate ornament. Directly to the right is a window bay that has been mostly bricked-in, leaving only a small, narrow bathroom window. Another bay farther to the left has been given the same treatment. There are two more single-windows on the east end of the north facade, and four on the west, with the last two paired closely together, the first of which also has been reduced to small bathroom windows. The window surrounds and trim match those on the east facade, with the surrounds remaining the original size around the shrunken window openings. A pair of black metal fire escapes runs down the facade.
The building was converted to a co-op in 1964, with 29 apartments.
