Dexter is a small city in Mower County, Minnesota in Dexter Township. The population was 341 at the 2010 census.
Dexter was first settled in 1857 by Dexter Parritt. It was organized June 6, 1870. The city of Dexter in sections 13, 14, 23, and 24 was platted in 1874 and was incorporated February 28, 1878.
It had a station of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad from 1870 until 1976, and the post office was established in 1874.
