7-story Renaissance-revival cooperative-apartment building completed in 1900. Designed by Gilbert A. Schellenger, it is clad in buff-colored Roman brick above a 2-story base of heavily rusticated limestone painted a cream color. The building is divided symmetrically into two wings by a narrow, deep light court above the ground floor, where the main entrance is. It has glass-and-wood double-doors below a transom, framed by a bead molding.
On either side the wings have pairs of round, projecting bays of two windows each, and a flat section in between with one window. The windows are round-arched on the 2nd floor, where the base is capped by a stone band course with an egg-and-dart molding at both wings. Framing the inward-facing angled window on the ground floor of the inner bays are pairs of narrow, square, grey granite columns with cream-painted Corinthian capitals; unlike the other windows on the ground floor, these have splayed, grey granite lintels. At the west wing there is a basement areaway nestled between the round projecting bays, enclosed by black iron fencing, with a set of stairs descending to a basement entry. Above the ground floor, black iron fire escapes are tucked into the recessed middle of each wing, between the rounded bays.
The windows on the upper floors have stone surrounds with delicate moldings, bracketed sills, and thin cornices topped by scrolls and floral ornament with small, central faces. The inner and outer edges of both wings are lined with thin, square terra-cotta pilasters with bands of small square panels with leafy patterns. The top floor is set off by a modillioned and dentiled band course and has round-arched windows with keystones, and the two wings are crowned by projecting, beige metal roof cornices with modillions, dentils, and a frieze with swags, also curving around the projecting bays.
The interior of the light well is clad in grey brick, without ornament. It has two bays of single-windows on both side walls, and then a bulge on each side that is faced in grey siding, with more single-windows. The building contains 51 apartments.
