210-foot, 19-story mid-century modern cooperative-apartment building completed in 1972. Designed by Holden, Yang, Raemsch & Corser, the tower portion is L-shaped, with frontages along Columbus Avenue and 90th Street, clad in beige pre-cast stone scored into vertical bricks, with larger, smoother blocks along the piers and across some of the floors, creating a subtle grid pattern. Above the ground floor the two main wings (west and north) are separated by an open-air breezeway that is enclosed in 2-story sections by 2-story black metal mesh screens. The main entrance is below this breezeway section, on 90th Street, with metal-framed glass double-doors set in a metal-framed glass surround. To the west the ground floor of the west wing has no openings. The upper floors have 2-story bays of double-height triple-windows, followed by two single-story bays of double-windows, all in dark-grey metal framing.
To the east, the north facade of the north wing has a triple-window bay, two double-window bays, two triple-window bays, a double-window bay, a bay that alternates either triple- or double-windows by floor, and an end bay of double-windows. The ground floor has a small 2-bay storefront next to the entrance (occupied by EFI Cleaners), with a peaked, red canvas canopy, followed by two wide bays of white-metal-framed plate-glass double-windows and black metal service doors at the west end, next to a mesh metal gate section. Two columns of simple metal cage balconies are spaced every other floor and link the inner window panes of adjoining bays.
The west facade of the west wing along the avenue has storefronts lining the ground floor, all occupied by a Duane-Reade pharmacy, and topped by a continuous black sign band. The upper floors have a four northern bays that alternate double- or triple-windows by floor, followed by two bays of triple-windows that slightly alternate widths by floor, then two similar bays of double-windows, two more triple-windows (again alternating widths), a width-alternating double-window bay, a bay alternating double- and triple-windows, and a south end bay of regular double-windows. There are three columns of metal balconies on this facade.
The narrow south facade of the west wing has two bays of single-windows, alternating square or rectangular in shape by floor. A wide, projecting cage balcony at every other floor joins them. To the east is a 1-story section with a ramp down to a freight entrance. The south-facing facade of the north wing is similar to its north facade, as is the east-facing facade of the west wing similar to its west elevation.
The building contains 188 apartments designated for low-income seniors.
