  • This was a nice neighborhood back when March was active. I saw it again in 2005 and was appalled. Why it couldn't have been used as private housing is beyond me.
  • Now all removed and ready for redevelopment.
  • Also known as "lifer heights" because career NCOs lived there. Ur right about using the housing, Someone, but they were deemed to be "substandard" by the powers that be and couldn't even house the needy. Funny how the houses were okay for the military folks.
  • I lived there for 8 years as a child. That's a long time for a military family. I considered it to be my childhood home and I can't believe it's gone. Truly sad right now.
  • I lived in Arnold Heights from mid 1954 to mid 1955. All our neighbors were pilots. The houses were small, one bath, two-bedroom with a 1-car carport. Front lawns were watered. Back yard were desert. The middle of our block had a field of tumbleweed, a good reason not to run barefoot. I don't remember the name of our street, we played in the desert across the street behind the neighbors houses. In the morning we could see the San Bernardino mountains in the distance. By afternoon they'd disappeared. I thought it was considered off-base housing at the time.
  • I lived there as well as a child from 1990 to 1995. I loved living there and was sad to hear about it being gone. It was a sad time watching the base shrink and housing close. I considered it my childhood home. I wish there were pictures instead of simply the ones in my mind.
  • Paul R. Scott-In November 1958, my father, SSgt David R. Scott was transferred from FE Warren AFB (Cheyenne, Wyo) to March AFB, Ca. I was in the start of 7th grade, living in Edgemont. They bused us to University Heights Jr. High in Riverside. One of my classmates was the famed Bobby Bonds, father of Barry Bonds, both belonging to the SF Giants organization. After a short stay in Edgemont (near the Riverside Raceway) awaiting availability for base housing, we finally moved into Arnold Heights (22160 Jennings Ave). I continued to attend school in Riverside (8th grade) until they moved us to a brand new Jr. High campus in Sunnymead. It was called Alessandro Jr. High School. Students living in Arnold Heights were bused to the new school. The next time I saw Bobby Bonds was when I played against him in an away basketball game at my previous University Heights gym! The main two aircraft at March AFB at that time were the B-47 and KC-97 tanker! I loved and still miss the sound of the B-47! Before moving from Arnold Heights I did get to see a B-52 fly in! Now that was an awesome site! While I lived there, there was no I-215; it was U.S. 395 that separated Arnold Heights from the main March AFB! My short stay in Arnold Heights ended in the summer of 1960 when my father was transferred to the Aleutian Islands. My mother (Alice) and older brother (David) and I moved to Utah to live with my grandparents during my father's remote assignment. I'm now one month shy of my 70th birthday and it seems just like yesterday I was enjoying the Arnold Heights experience. The last time I passed by the Arnold Heights location, going south on the 215, I was saddened to not be able to see my old home! Life goes on, I guess! Peace out!!
  • My father was stationed at March air force base as well. I attended arnold heights school there in the late 60s to early 70's. I would love to see some pictures of the school and community. Been trying to find them through Internet, but not having any luck. Had alot of freinds,That I would love to here from; have not heard from anyone. My father retired in 72, and we moved back to the south. (MS) would love to see my childhood memories again. Had alot of fun growing up there. Our back yard was toward a field, going back towards the base. With alot of tumbleweeds. If any one has any pictures of the school and community. Please send them to me. Would love to see them. ( octoberpam@gmail.com ) .. Also heard the housing was destroyed several years ago. Hate to hear that..
  • I loved on Lackland Ave in mid 60's to71 .lots of good memories
  • I left there in 1990. I went back several years ago to the last house I lived in and took a kitchen cabinet door that I still have to this day.
  • My husband and I were married in Chapel #2 in Arnold Heights in September of 69 and this year will be our 50th anniversary. I have been trying to locate a picture of the Chapel in Arnold Heights but not having any luck. I checked with the museum at March and I have even checked the archives with no luck.
