Pronounced Mechyotnoe gorodishche. A significant medieval settlement from the time of the Golden Horde was located on the site of modern Spartanovka north of Volgograd on the right bank of the Volga. The park located between the two portions of the Akademik Bogomolets street is located atop the filled-in ravine forming the southern edge of the old settlement. It has been proposed that Mechetnoe gorodishche is the site of the medieval town of Beljamen, but that is usually located at Voldyanovskoe gorodische to the north.
