Historic Boerum Hill bar with high ceilings, huge windows, and long, dark oak bar that dates to the 1870s. It was first opened by Anton Zeiner in 1850 and was renovated with wooden paneling by Bohemian craftsman Edward Melzer for his widow in 1892. In 1912, the Heissenbuttel family ran it throughout Prohibition by secretly selling alcohol.
The interior served as a filming location for S2E9 of the Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" when Abe and Noah go for a drink.
