Kastrich Beach

Bulgaria / Burgas / Ahtopol /
 beach, invisible

Kastrich Beach is located in a tiny bay next to the cape of the same name between Capes Golyam and Malak Kastrich, south of the larger and much more familiar to tourists Silistar Beach and Camping. This is the second beach where there is very little sand and 1-2 tents can be pitched. It is small and secluded, but offers excellent conditions for beachcombing, as the sea here is calm, shallow and very warm.
Kastrich is one of the southernmost beaches on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is relatively rarely visited because it remains away from the main tourist streams and is located in a guarded border area. However, there are tourists who have discovered this magical corner, untouched by the commercialization that has characterized our coastline in recent years, and visit it regularly.
This is the main group of vacationers who choose Kastrich - people who are looking for solitude and closeness to nature. The beach is located only three kilometers from the village of Rezovo (Tsarevo municipality, Burgas region) and is hidden at the foot of Cape Kastrich (28 meters above sea level), which dominates the surrounding landscape.
A small but strategically important medieval fortress was built on it, which played a key role in the struggle between Byzantium and the Second Bulgarian Kingdom for control of the Black Sea region. The promontory protrudes 160 meters into the sea, and the fortress itself has a rectangular shape and measures twenty by thirty meters. Although it was built in late antiquity, it was first mentioned in historical sources in 1263 by the Byzantine chronicler Georgi Pahimer.
