Within Pizza Paradise was a sub-restaurant, Taste of Persia, which is regarded as some of the best Persian food in New York City. It was opened in 2013 by Saeed Pourkay to honor the street food commonly found in Tehran, Iran. He had run a print shop across the street for 20 years but decided to close it to become a chef. Shortly afterwards, he became homeless and living in a friend’s Brooklyn warehouse. The owner of the pizzeria let him use the front window rent-free for the first few months to start the new business. It was open from 12-8pm.
