160-foot, 16-story Renaissance-revival residential building completed in 1925. Designed by Emery Roth, it is clad in light-brown brick above a limestone ground floor with a light-grey granite water table. On the south facade the ground floor has a show-window at the west end, and the main entrance is just left of center, with iron-and-glass double-doors and a fanlight in a round-arched opening, covered by a rounded, red canvas canopy extending out over the sidewalk. The stone surround around the entry is decorated with foliate ornament, and has a cartouche at the top. There is a single-window with an iron grille directly to the left of the entrance, and four more single-windows to the right (with a small window inserted between the western two), and an end bay with paired windows. The ground floor is capped by a stone band course.
The upper floors are almost symmetrical. They have paired-window end bays, two intermediate bay of single-windows on both sides, and four middle bays grouped into pairs of tripartite windows with wide, grey iron mullions and single-windows; the tripartite windows are to the left of the single-windows in both cases. The end bays at the 2nd-3rd floors have white terra-cotta surrounds; the spandrels here have large rosettes in the centers, and dentils across the tops. The two bays of tripartite windows have brick spandrels between the 2nd & 3rd floors, with a checkerboard pattern of raised bricks and projecting, white terra-cotta shields inscribed in circles at the centers. There are wrought-iron railings, bulging out slightly at the centers, across the bases of the single-windows on the 3rd floor. A dentiled band course sets off the 4th floor, with another below the 14th floor. The end bays at the 13th floor have iron railings, and at the 14th-15th floors there are 2-story terra-cotta surrounds rising from stone balcines to round-arches with cartouches and a column diving the paired windows. A modillioned stone cornice caps the 15th-floor roof line, stepped up at the ends, and the facade is dotted with protruding air-conditioning units. Set back from the lower roof line is a penthouse level with terrace space around it.
The west facade on the avenue is lined with glass-and-metal storefront with canvas awnings on the ground floor. The upper floors have four bays with paired windows (the end bays and the middle two). Between these are a tripartite window bay flanked by single-window bays on both sides. The ornament around the windows on various floors matches that on the south facade, and the 4th floor also has vertical columns of spaced, projecting bricks framing the paired windows, with thin stone lintels across the tops, carried on three small brackets.
The east part of the north facade overlooking the shorter buildings to the north is set back, while the west section has two bays of single-windows and a rectangular brick vent shaft. The east elevation has a light well near the north end; the south section of this facade is clad in light-grey brick and has a single-window at the south end, followed by a small bathroom window, a double-window bay, and another small bathroom window paired with a single-window.
The building contains 98 apartment units. The ground floor along the avenue is occupied by Blue Mercury Makeup/Skincare/Spa, By Invitation Only Designs print shop, Joe and The Juice juice shop, and Chopt Creative Salad Co.
