Probably the most historic Y branch in the country moved here from 23rd Street when this building was constructed. The oldest Y in New York City (from 1869), it's named for Robert Ross McBurney, an early leader of the Y movement. The earlier location served as the inspiration for the 1978 Village People song "YMCA".
