The Monkey Bar

USA / New Jersey / West New York /
 bar, interesting place

Historic bar opened in the 1930's. It features a massive three-paneled mural by caricaturist Charlie Wala of monkeys which occupies the bar area. It underwent a restoration in the 1980's. After being left in disrepair, the bar was refreshed by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter who brought in David Rockwell to perform alterations to the interior. A later panoramic mural by Edward Sorel of Jazz Age legends including Duke Ellington, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mae West, Billie Holliday and George Gershwin. was added in the dining room in 2009.

The interior was used as a filming location for S2E8 of the Starz Network original series "Power" as Ghost visits for a secret meeting.
