ruins, place with historical importance
The ruins of Fort Hatch, a satellite fort of the famous Fort Union.
"PO as Hatch Ranch 1878-1879, as Chapman 1879-1880, Fort Hatch was a military outpost here in the 1860's. Later, the locality took the name Hatch Ranch, but the PO, after one year with that name, for another year took the name Chapman, for postmaster John L. Chapman. Hatch's Ranch has been said to have been a dispersal point for livestock stolen Indians in Texas."
