Day-use National Park which contains world-famous underground caverns, accessible individually or by tour. Large visitor center and cafeteria, but no improved camping. Off-road motor trail with picnic areas and primitive camping at Rattlesnake Springs area. Every night at dusk 450,000 Mexican Freetail Bats emerge from the cave in search of food. Great sight to see.

Established to preserve Carlsbad Cavern and numerous other caves within a Permian-age fossil reef, the park contains more than 100 known caves. Adjacent to Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
