Residence built c. 1904 for Wilhelm Joseph Peter {industrialist} who had founded the William Peter Brewing Company in 1862. After his death, the home was given to the township who turned it into a library in 1942 with books and memorablia donated by local residents. In 1997–1998, it closed for enlargement and renovation and re-opened in 1999.
