Estate home designed c. 1930 in the French Manor style by William E. Frenayne, Jr. (of the firm of Howard & Frenayne) on originally 65 acres of land for Francis Tilden Nichols, Sr. His grandfather, William H. Nichols, was chairman of the board of the Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation and made his fortune in chemical manufacturing and copper refining. The home features Ludowici tiling, antique paneled rooms, a teahouse replete with lead squirrel finials, and formal landscaping by Ferruccio Vitale.

The estate was subsequently owned by Esmond Bradley Martin, Sr {financier} who was the son of Bradley Martin, Jr. He had lived prior at "Knole" in Old Westbury.
