"Midland Farm" (Muttontown, New York)

Residence designed by James W. O'Connor c. 1923 in the Federal style for John F. Bermingham {industrialist, financier}. Bermingham served as president of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Coal Co. and was a trustee of Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn. Additionally, he served as mayor and trustee of the Village of Muttontown. He also had a residence on Cove Neck Road in East Norwich. The "Midland Farm" estate was situated on a large tract of level ground (160 acres) surrounded by gardens designed by Olmsted Brothers from 1921-23 and a racing track.

The home underwent restoration in 2004.

  • Debutante Brenda Diana Duff Frazier lived in this house from the mid 1940's to early 1950's. During her ownership it was called "Meadowood".
