office building, America Automobile Association / AAA

4-story office building completed in 1930 - possibly for the American Automobile Association. The two lower floors were originally Neo-Classical and clad in red brick, but were remodeled in 2011 with a new skin of silver metal cladding and green glass at the ground-floor storefront (except for at the west end on the south facade). At the north end on Broadway there is a single-window, next to the glass double-doors. Above the single-window, at the 2nd floor, is a vent, and the rest of the 2nd floor has five bays of square, 2-over-2 window openings. The top two floors are faced in beige stone and has end bays of double-windows (which both slightly project), and four narrow single-windows in the middle; the north end has more vents on both floors.

The southeast corner is chamfered, with an entrance with glass double-doors at the ground floor, and no openings on the 2nd. The top two floors here have single-windows, and there is a neon AAA sign mounted below the roof line. The south facade on 62nd Street has more glass storefront until the west end, where there is a separate square window and a service entrance with metal double-doors. The 2nd floor has four bays of 2-over-2 windows at the metal cladding portion, and to the west is another bay of double-windows and a metal-and-glass door opening onto a landing for the beige metal fire escape that covers these two bays. The 3rd & 4th floor have the same door and window at the fire escape landings, with another narrow single-window to the west. The east end has three single-windows and a double-window in the end bay. The roof line is marked on all sides by a simple cornice.
