Also known as the Roanoke Star. This is the largest freestanding illuminated man-made star in the world. Built in 1949, the star is 88.5 feet tall and contains 2,000 feet of neon tubing. It is visible for 60 miles from the air. The star is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
