  • A great place to watch modern Norfolk Southern rail movements (but do not trespass or they will arrest you). Shaffer's Crossing at the west end is a huge locomotive maintenance faciltiy. You can also visit the Transportation Museum and see former steam engines 611 and 1218 plus numerous others. Then head up to Mill Mountain and overlook the city the valley and beautiful distant mountains.
