Hyatt Place Chelsea

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 24th Street, 140

416-foot, 45-story modernist hotel completed in 2020. Designed by Gene Kaufman, it is set far back from the sidewalk above a 1-story base. The base is clad in grey granite, and the set-back tower has a lightweight limestone rainscreen façade. The ground floor has five large bays, the eastern four deeply recessed. The main entrance in the 2nd bay from the west, and the west end bay has freight entrance with steel doors. The roof line of the base slopes gently upward to the east, and there is Hyatt signage below the slope, at the east end.

The northern and southern elevations have a narrow and tight grid of windows that run up the entire height of the building, with six bays of off-set double-windows; the middle four are grouped into two pairs. There are no openings on the west and east elevations. Two water towers sit side by side to each other above the flat roof parapet.

The building contains 510 guest rooms.
