  • maybe the history of the factory is related to the communist era, but we must not forget that Faur is the former Malaxa Factory, on which the Romanian heavy industry once depended. At Malaxa there were built some of the most powerful locomotives in the world during the '30s and '40s

  • "Malaxa" factory was founded in 1921, by the Nicolae Malaxa, born in Husi town (Vaslui county). Before 1940 here was made some of the best industrial romanian "engine": steam locomotive, multiple trains, etc. After 1945 "Malaxa" factory (rename "23 August" factory and "REpublica" factory), made diesel-hydraulic locomotives (class "80"- from 1966), engine, tank wagons. Beetwen 1945- 1990 here was made: 500.000 t industrial equipment, and beetwen 1967- 1990 here was made 5.215 diesel-hydraulic locomotive (whith power engine beetwen 100- 2.600 hp), of which 1.670 locomotives was exportet. Also, "23 August" was the only provider at diesel engine, for romanian oil drilling ring, known in all the world. "Republica" factory made pipe.
  • Mai exista Faur si in ziua de astazi si au site. Repara locomotive LDH facute de ei si produc tot felul de parti. Au cateva sute de angajati, fabrica fiind salvata in anul 2003 de la faliment.
  • Deci dupa parerea mea, e cam prea trist numele "fostele", pentru ca aici, ce e drept, pe un spatiu mai restrans functioneaza fabrica FAUR
  • Aici s-au produs urmatoarele tipuri de material rulant feroviar: locomotive diesel-hidraulice clasa 85, 86 (LDH-45, LDH-70- INTRE 1964- ?), clasa 87 (pentru cale ingusta 1979-1984), clasa 80, 81 (1966- 1987 ?), LDH-25/BDM (pentru manevre in intreprinderi), automotoare diesel, vagoane-cisterna.
