  This is the Andrew Curtis Tungsten Mine in the Sheep Mountain Wilderness. I doubt this mine was abandoned in 1991. On June 17, 1990, EDMUND NEWTON, an LA TIMES STAFF WRITER wrote "By next month, Curtis expects his the mine to be turning out 88,000 pounds of the stuff a month. Furthermore, I personally witnessed tractors grading the road that leads to the mine and ore trucks making their way to the mine more recently than 1991 (not sure of the exact date) and spoke to a man who claimed to be the owner. This is one of the largest tungsten deposits in the US.
