a very old Inland Empire neighborhood, was unincorporated until the late 1970's when it was combined with the areas of Cucamonga and Etiwanda to form Rancho Cucamonga. Alta Loma is almost completely residential, and is one of the nicest areas in the Inland Empire to live. Residents fought to keep the charm and spirit of the neighborhood alive, and Alta Loma was allowed to keep it's name, zip code, and post office despite technically now being part of the city of Rancho Cucamonga.
