This is a prestressed concrete beam bridge built in 1989. It carries U.S. Route 501 (L.P. Bailey Highway/Lusardin Drive) over the Staunton River between Halifax County and the Town of Brookneal, with 9 spans. In 1992, it was named in honor of Howard P. Anderson by the General Assembly. Anderson was a local state delegate and later state senator from 1958 to 1991.
