6-story brutalist university building completed in 1977. Designed by De Young, Mosciwitz, and Rosenberg, it is connected with the Pomerantz Center to the north, the upper floors of which span over 27th Street to join this similar building. Both are clad in limestone. The Goodman Center houses The Museum at FIT, and the School of Graduate Studies.
Except for a small section in the middle, the east facade on the avenue has its 3-story base recessed from the upper floors that jut out over the sidewalk. The smaller northern portion of this facade has two wide bays at the lower two floors (with a double-height bay at the north end). The 3rd floor here has four smaller bays of double-windows; the projecting upper floors begin at the 4th floor at the north bays, and at the 5th floor at the two bays to the south. The south end of this facade has four wide bays at the ground floor, with a band of windows in the northern one (there are no openings in the others). The 2nd & 3rd floors have eight smaller bays of double-windows, and the upper floors project out above. The upper floors have only a few scattered narrow single-windows, and one double-window at the far north end of the 5th floor, where it joins with the Pomerantz Center.
The north facade, at the lower floors facing 27th Street, form a small arcade below the 3rd floor, with the main entrance. The south facade on 26th Street has deeply recessed lower floors at the west and east ends, with no windows at all in the middle. The east side has a secondary entrance with metal double-doors flanked by two wide bays at the ground floor, the western one with a band of windows. The 2nd & 3rd floors have five bays of double-windows. The projecting upper floors begin at the 4th floor at the eastern two bays, and at the 5th floor at the next three, which have double-windows at the 4th floor. The recessed area at the west end has three bays, with a service entrance at the eastern one. The 2nd floor has three bays of double-windows, and the eastern bay continues up to the 4th floor; around it, the rest of the facade projects out with almost no openings; the only windows at the upper floors are two narrow single-windows on both the 5th & 6th floors, spaced far apart, and a narrow vent on the 4th floor below the western narrow window bay.
The west facade also has a recessed lower two floors, with no openings on the ground floor, and three bays of double-windows on the 2nd. There is a bay of narrow windows near the south end of the 3rd & 4th floors, and another to the north that continues at the 5th & 6th floors (with two paired narrow windows at the 3rd floor).
